Athlete Mindset

Over my coaching career I’ve realized athletes struggle with understanding how to operate and this holds them back from operating in a way that has the potential to push them forward in their development in their chosen sport. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with professional coaches, pro skill coaches, and development coaches to design a foundation course for teams and individual athletes to go through. This foundational course is comprised of 4 sessions.  Each session builds off the previous session and helps athletes understand HOW and WHY they operate in the way they do.  This knowledge will give them the ability to begin to make changes within themselves which we believe will show up in competition as well as in the locker room.

Session 1 – Ego, Identity, and Truth
Session 2 – Cognitive Development and Self Talk (Internal Dialogue)
Session 3 – Confilict and Conflict Resolution
Session 4 – Leadership
Small group sessions are scheduled and held at PEAK MVMNT Headquarters in Lubbock, Texas.

Team sessions have 3 options.

Option 1 – Leadership Retreat (Location based on Team. The Retreat is 3 day retreat in which we take on the foundation course together in a compressed time frame. This is a much more intense version of the course because of the time constraints. We have experienced times where teams come together in ways we didn’t expect because of what we are able to discuss in an intimate setting.

Option 2 – On Campus Sessions. We travel to campus once a week for 5 straight weeks. This a more balanced approach and allows time for athletes to work through the course material more fully during the week. The first 4 weeks are the course sessions and week 5 is a recap/ questioning session in which athletes are able to learn more practical applications for the team and themselves.

Option 3 – Year Round Coaching. This is what we had in mind when we designed the course. It includes everything our On Campus plan includes plus the benefit of having bi-weekly team check-ins and individual meetings for athletes. As the year progresses there are things that occur that aren’t covered specifically in our foundational sessions so additional discussions and practical applications are needed. This is our full plan approach to helping athletes operate as high level individuals and come together and operate as a high level team.
